Almie Latimore

 A dedicated and accomplished teacher and mentor, Almida “Almie” Pachoco-Latimore is a native of Dampigan, Sta. Rita Samar, Philippines. An honor student, she graduated from Dampigan Elementary School and Leyte National High School Tacloban City, Philippines. After finishing high school, Almie attended Leyte Normal University (then Leyte State College) and graduated with a Bachelor in Elementary Education (Cum Laude) with Reading as her specialization. Additionally, she was the sole recipient of the 1994 Presidential Leadership Award.

Almie taught at a number of schools in Tacloban City including Tacloban Angelicum Learning Center and Sto. Nino SPED Center. It was during her time at SPED Center that Almie became interested in pursuing Special Education as a career path. Eventually, Almie accepted a position at the Integrated Laboratory School of Leyte Normal

University teaching multi-grade (4-6). Although she was working full-time, Almie’s desire to continue her studies led her to enroll at Southwestern University in Cebu City. In 2001, Almie received a Master of Arts in Teaching Special Education, a distinction that led to a full-time instructor position at the Professional Education Department at Leyte Normal University.

In 2002, Almie was offered a position with the Houston Independent school district. Success followed Almie to the United States as she quickly adapted to her new life. Soon she was a Teacher of the Year at her school and a Special Education Department Chair.

In 2011, Almie moved to San Antonio and married Dr. Carey H. Latimore. Her first job in San Antonio was with Judson ISD as a Resource Teacher and Liaison to the Special Education department in the district. Currently she is teaching at Hatchett Elementary School of Northside ISD as a special education teacher.

A member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Almie is also an active member of the Focolare Movement.
